Session Description :

Automated Vehicles (AVs) have the potential to offer immense benefits and act as a game-changer in the urban mobility sphere. But before these benefits are visible, it is needed to demonstrate the viability and the impacts of the technologies on our roads. In various countries over the world, numerous demonstrations have already taken place and learnings have been gathered regarding the technologies but also the citizen's perception. In this session, our speakers from Europe, Japan, and the US will discuss several demonstration activities including also SHOW project the biggest and most holistic ever real-life CCAV urban demonstration initiative in Europe, aiming to enable mobility for all.

Andrea De Candido, European Commission will discuss the need for International Collaboration, Manabu Umeda, Project Researcher, University of Tokyo will refer to the Japan trials, Dr. Ingrid Skogsmo, Senior Research Leader, VTI, will present the SHOW demonstrators, with particular emphasis on the SHOW trials in Sweden, and Matti Kutila, Research Team Leader, VTT will reference the Ride2Autonomy project trials.
