Session Description :

The C-Roads Platform is a joint initiative of European Member States bringing together those interested in deploying harmonised C-ITS services and use cases.

Beyond deployments of C-ITS services on linear road infrastructures, mostly for safety and traffic related issues, some large-scale C-ITS deployments in urban areas have been carried out. Therefore, cities are now focusing on understanding how C-ITS services can overcome the challenges of urban mobility and meet the objectives of urban public policies: multimodality (public transport, bike, scooter/e-scooter, etc.), safety of vulnerable road users, traffic light information, etc. Upscaling urban C-ITS services is now needed.

The session is organized as a presentation of public policy issues and C-ITS deployments in Europe, with a focus on projects such as InDiD. The session will be followed by a discussion with the audience in the C-ITS City forum session (SIS65).

In this session, Marie-Christine Esposito, chair of the C-Roads platform, will present the role of this platform in supporting cities work, and give input from a European perspective. Cities will provide feedback from previous C-ITS projects (GLOSA, Coopits app, etc), and present the ambition of their territory, focusing on the objectives and the means to deploy C-ITS in a urban context.
